The Former Miami linebacker commit Elijah Melendez flips has commitment to Auburn.
On Saturday, Kissimmee Osceola (Fla.) four-star senior linebacker Elijah Melendez while visiting Auburn for their game against New Mexico has committed to the Tigers. The decision came two weeks after he de-committed from the University of Miami.
According to 247Sports, Melendez is the No. 17 ranked linebacker in the nation and the No. 23 ranked prospect in Florida.
Auburn defensive coordinator and linebackers coach DJ Durkin was a big part of Melendez’s recruitment and were high on him since they offered him during his junior season.
“Auburn has a real deal college town and is an SEC program”, Melendez told Chad Simmons of On3Sports. “Coach (Freeze) and the rest of the staff are all about faith, believing in yourself, and believing in things to happen, as Auburn just happened to be where I fit in.” Melendez added.
Melendez becomes the 24th Auburn commit in the upcoming cycle and the third linebacker to commit to the Tigers as he joins Highlands Home (Ala.)’s Jakaleb Faulk who can often at times play on the edge as well as St. Frances Academy (Md.)’s Bryce Deas.

Measured in at 6-foot-1.5 and around 220 pounds prior to his junior season. Looks to have good length. Registers as a plus athlete in the combine setting. Seamlessly transfers his athleticism onto the field. Lines up as an inside linebacker for one of the better talent-producing high school programs in Central Florida. Runs sideline-to-sideline. Hawks down ball carriers in an emphatic fashion. Closing speed jumps off the film. Also shows the encouraging play strength and physicality as a run defender. Takes on blocks and shows the ability to stack and shed. Flows downhill and makes plays in a phone booth. Has the athleticism to continue developing in coverage and as a space linebacker. Shows the high-end tools to develop into one of the best linebackers in the 2025 cycle.
