Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles landed a huge recruit on Saturday night from an in-state primary target.
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) four-star running back Byron Louis chose the Seminoles over Miami and Wisconsin. During his recruitment process, Louis held nearly 30 offers from Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, and several others.
According to 247Sports, Louis is the No. 221 ranked prospect in the nation, 17th ranked running back, and the 35th ranked prospect in the state of Florida.
So far through four games this season, Louis has 76 carries for 511 yards and four touchdowns. He also has 10 catches for 109 yards and has a receiving touchdown.
“At the end of the day that’s a great program, the history is amazing honestly and it is still a good school,” Louis told Rivals.com’s John Garcia Jr. following Friday night’s game against Miami Central. “I like Coach (Norvell) as a person and coach. He turned the program around and whether it was a big win or you had your back against the wall, his demeanor never changed.” Louis added
Florida State now has 12 commits in the 2025 recruiting cycle and Louis becomes the first running back to commit. Louis joins Raines (Jacksonville, Fla.) offensive tackle Solomon Thomas, Greene County (Ga.) defensive lineman Kevin Wynn, Houston County (Ga.) offensive lineman Peyton Joseph, American Heritage Plantation (Fla.) defensive back Gregory Xavier Thomas, Milton (Ga.) wide receiver CJ Wiley, Rock Hill (S.C.) wide receiver Malik Clark, Lovejoy (Tx.) wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon, Mandarin (Jacksonville, Fla.) quarterback Tramell Jones, Millard South (Neb.) tight end Chase Loftin, Seminole (Sanford, Fla.) linebacker Ethan Pritchard, and Cardinal Newman (West Palm Beach, Fla.) safety Max Redmon.
Byron Louis Scouting Report, via Andrew Ivins (247Sports): A potential workhorse between the tackles with a downhill run style that will break through the first sign of contact. Quick to pick a lane and will attack holes with vigor. Has a few long house calls on the highlight reel and can certainly find a top gear, but isn’t the most elusive runner when he reaches the second level and has more success powering through defenders then he does trying to get around them. Projects as a potential multi-year contributor at the Power Four level that will give an offense a physical and reliable option in the backfield.
