The No. 19-ranked shooting guard and No. 20 overall prospect in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports, announced his commitment to the Seminoles on Thursday.
The Florida State Seminoles men’s basketball program landed its second commit in less than 24 hours, with the latest being Windermere Prep (Windermere, Fla.) four-star senior shooting guard Brandon Bass Jr., according to Rivals’ Joe Tipton.
Bass Jr, the son of 12-year National Basketball Association (NBA) veteran Brandon Bass, chose the Seminoles over LSU and Purdue, who were included in the three finalists.
Bass Jr. is the fourth commit in the Seminoles upcoming recruiting cycle where he joins Gillion Academy (Virginia)’s Marcis Ponder, Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale) shooting guard Collin Paul, and Chaminade-Madonna point guard Jasen Lopez.
“I chose Florida State because out of all the schools recruiting me, I felt this was the best choice for me and my development,” Bass told Dushawn London of 247Sports. “I really liked our conversations on my official visit which also played a role in my decision. They told me how much they need me and where I can fit in their program,” Bass added.
Bass spent the Grassroots season playing for Austin Rivers Elite, which is part of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit where, during Session 2 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, back in May, he averaged 14.0 points per game while shooting 71% from the field and shot 57% from behind the three-point line (12-of-21).
During his junior season at Windermere Prep, Bass averaged 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for the Lakers where they finished with a 13-14 record and reached the regional quarterfinals before having their season come to an end against Tampa Catholic.
