The 2024-2025 High School Basketball regular season is approaching the midway point. Here are five boys basketball prospects worth noting in this year’s junior class:
Moses Allen– Carrollwood Day
The 6-5 junior point guard has a combination skillset of size, length and athleticism where he has learned how to initiate the offense. Allen has added some muscle to his game where he can finish at the front of the rim on the attack where he is unafraid to get to the free throw line. Allen’s game has also expanded on the defensive end as he is using his length to battle on the glass with bigger players, outmuscling his way to get the rebound off missed shots.
Tucker Fox– Victory Christian Academy
Fox plays with a ton of toughness and confidence as his game matures. Look for an improved season for Fox as he is playing in his junior season as he continues to evolve his game. On the defensive end, he plays with a high motor and rebounds exceptionally well from either side of the rim. On the offensive end, Fox can score on all three levels where he can be effective whether it’s off the catch or bounce.
Luke Mayberry– Providence School (Jacksonville)
The 6-2 combo guard has a great feel and understanding of the game where he can initiate the offense. He has a strong IQ knowing when to settle for a jump shot or pass the ball on the offensive end. Defensively, he can guard on and off the ball at a high level where he can dictate where the next pass is going. Look for Mayberry to have a solid junior season where he will be sharing the point guard duties with 6-3 sophomore Ryan Gornto.
Isaiah Newson– North Fort Myers
The 6-2 junior point guard is really smart and plays under control where his maturity is advanced for his age. Newson is at his absolute best when he gets his teammates involved with his crisp-passing ability as well as when he gets to the rim. He is an emerging player who is shining right before our eyes on the defensive end as well where he has a strong nose for the basketball, as well as very energetic in the passing lanes.
Jayden Petit– First Baptist Academy (Naples)
The 6-4 junior combo guard is a freakish athlete who can get the job done on both ends of the floor. Petit is a high-level rebounder and shot blocker at the front of the rim where he is unafraid when it comes to pushing the basketball in transition. On the offensive end, he makes a strong havoc for finishing above the rim whether it’s off the catch or bounce. He currently holds football offers from notable schools such as Florida, Kansas, Kansas State, Liberty, Missouri, Texas A&M, and several others.
