Booker T. Washington (Miami, Fla.) four-star defensive back Ben Hanks Jr., The No. 93 ranked player in the Class Of 2025 committed to the University of Florida on Friday.
Hanks Jr. chose the in-state Gators over Georgia, Louisville, Miami, and several others.
Hanks Jr.’s father, Ben Sr. was a former linebacker at the University of Florida from 1992-1995 and went on to play in the NFL for three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions.
“I am ready to carry the torch and help bring Florida to where it was when my Dad played there,” Hanks Jr. told On3 Sports. “I believe in Coach Napier as he can definitely bring Florida back to the top” he added.
As a junior last season, Hanks Jr. was an All-Dade County Selection by the Miami Herald where he was credited for 38 total tackles and six interceptions including three returned for a touchdown.
Hanks Jr. is the 13th commit in the Class of 2025 as he joins Jones (Orlando, Fla.) wide receiver Vernell Brown Jr., Rickards (Tallahassee, Fla.) defensive end Jalen Wiggins, Plant (Tampa, Fla.) running back Waltez Clark, Miller (Brewton, Ala.) linebacker Myles Johnson, Heritage (Palm Bay, Fla.) wide receiver Joshua Moore, Riverside (Jacksonville, Fla.) wide receiver Tae’shaun Gelsey, Madison Central (Madison, Miss.) tight end Micah Jones, Katy (Tex.) running back Chad Gasper, Lee County (Lee, Ga.) linebacker Jeramiah McCloud and Grayson (Ga.) defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou.
