Florida High School Volleyball Top 10 Rankings- Week 1


We have reached the opening week of the high school volleyball season in the Sunshine State. Each Tuesday throughout the season, HSSportsFlorida will reveal their Top 10 Statewide Rankings across all classifications. Here is this week’s first edition of the Top 10 teams in the state of Florida.

#1 Carrollwood Day (1-0)

This Week: Defeated Polk Christian Prep, 3-1

The Carrollwood Day Patriots are the 2023 Class 3A reigning state champions and are at the top in the initial statewide volleyball rankings for the 2024 season.

Players To Watch: 2025 OH Sarah Dibbs-Frantz, 2027 6’2 OH Lydia Chinchar, 2025 6’2 MH Lorelei Church

#2 Winter Park (0-0)

This Week: at West Orange (Wed.), vs Spruce Creek (Thu.)

The reigning Class 7A state runner-ups come in at No. 2 in this week’s initial statewide volleyball rankings for the 2024 season.

#3 Plant (0-0)

This Week: at Steinbrenner (Wed.)

The Plant Panthers are coming off the Class 7A state championship where they defeated Winter Park in four sets.

#4 Gulliver Prep (0-0)

This Week: vs Barron Collier (Tues.)

The Raiders ended the 2023 season on a 15-match win streak which included winning the Class 4A State Championship over Bishop Moore in four sets.

#6 St. Thomas Aquinas (0-0)

This Week: vs Pembroke Pines Charter (Tues.)

The Raiders are coming off winning the 2023 FHSAA Class 6A State Championship over Viera in four sets.

#7 Berkeley Prep (0-0)

This Week: at Calvary Christian (Clearwater) (Tues.)

The Buccaneers had their 2023 season come to an end in the Class 3A, Region 3 Finals in a five-set thriller to Carrollwood Day. The Buccaneers will look to get back into the State Tournament where they have the second most FHSAA volleyball titles all-time with 16.

This Week: at Sarasota (Tues.), at Bradenton Christian (Thu.)

It’s a new era in Southwest Florida, as Jay Lanham who was a long-time assistant under Brian Wheatley has taken over the reigns as a head coach, after Wheatley was named the head volleyball coach at Auburn High School in Alabama back in May.

This Week: vs Providence School (Tues.), at Spruce Creek (Wed.)

The Middleburg Broncos ended the 2023 season on a 10-match winning streak which included winning the Class 5A state title over Barron Collier in three sets.

This Week: vs Lake Howell

The Hagerty Huskies had their 2023 season come to an end in the Class 7A, Region 2 Semifinals in a four-set loss to Timber Creek.
