Florida High School Volleyball Top 10 Rankings- Week 2


We have completed the opening week of the high school volleyball season in the Sunshine State. Each Tuesday throughout the season, HSSportsFlorida will reveal their Top 10 Statewide Rankings across all classifications. Here is this week’s edition of the Top 10 teams in the state of Florida.

#1 Plant (1-0)

Last Week: Defeated Steinbrenner, 3-0

This Week: Nike Tournament of Champions (Fri-Sat.)

The Plant Panthers make their season debut at the top of this week’s HSSportsFlorida Top 10 Volleyball statewide rankings. The Lady Panthers have gotten key contributions from senior outside hitter Lara Matta (Mercer commit) and senior outside hitter Maggie Dostic (Tennessee commit).

#2 Carrollwood Day (1-0)

Last Week: Defeated Polk Christian Prep, 3-1

This Week: vs Clovis North (CA) (Fri.) (Nike Tournament of Champions), vs Ransom Everglades (Fri.) (Nike Tournament of Champions), vs Westminster (GA) (Fri.) (Nike Tournament of Champions), Nike Tournament of Champions (Sat.)

The Carrollwood Day Patriots have been led by reigning MaxPreps’ All-American sophomore Lydia Chinchar and senior middle hitter Lorelei Church.

#3 Gulliver Prep (1-0)

Last Week: Defeated Barron Collier, 3-1

This Week: at North Broward Prep (Wed.)

The Lady Raiders got a convincing win over Class 5A state runner-up Barron Collier where they were led by senior right-side hitter Julia Rose-Rivera who had a team-high 16 kills in the win. Sophomore outside hitter Brianna Napoles added 14 kills of her own in the season-opening win.

#4 St. Thomas Aquinas (1-0)

Last Week: Defeated Pembroke Pines Charter, 3-0

This Week: vs Kissimmee Osceola (Fri.) (Nike T.O.C.), vs North Cobb (GA) (Fri.) (Nike T.O.C.), vs Bishop Gorman (NV) (Sat.) (Nike T.O.C.)

The Lady Raiders have high expectations for a 7th consecutive FHSAA Volleyball state title. In the season-opening win, they were led by seniors Zoey Brown and Mikayla Porter who each had nine kills.

#5 Winter Park (2-0)

Last Week: Defeated West Orange 3-0, Defeated Spruce Creek 3-0

This Week: at Freedom (Tues.)

The Lady Wildcats have yet to drop a set in their first two matches of the season. Sophomore middle blocker Isabel Incinelli is leading the team with 24 kills so far on the young season.

#6 Middleburg (2-0)

Last Week: Defeated Providence 3-0, Defeated Spruce Creek 3-0

This Week: vs Nease (Tues.), Nike Tournament of Champions (Fri-Sat.)

The defending Class 5A Champions look stronger and better so far in 2024, as they were in 2023. The Lady Broncos have been led so far this season by senior outside hitter Brooke Forkum and junior outside hitter Camden Rahn.

#7 Berkeley Prep (1-0)

Last Week: Defeated Calvary Christian (Clearwater) 3-0

This Week: No matches scheduled

The Buccaneers return most of their core from a loaded 2023 squad that reached the Class 3A Regional Final where they fell to eventual state champ Carrollwood Day. The Buccaneers were led by seniors Hannah Hankerson and Lily Hayes in their season-opening win over Calvary Christian.

This Week: vs New Smyrna Beach (Tues.), at Bishop Moore (Wed.), vs Steinbrenner (Fri.) (Nike T.O.C.), vs Trinity Christian Academy (Deltona) (Fri.) (Nike T.O.C.), vs Santa Fe (Fri.) (Nike T.O.C.)

The Lady Hawks look to return to form after losing seven seniors in 2023 which included the team’s leader in kills Isabella Stark who is now at Penn State. Senior opposite/outside hitter Haley Beigh had a team-high 20 kills in the team’s season-opening win over Bayside.

#9 Jupiter (2-0)

Last Week: Defeated Park Vista 3-1, Defeated Martin County 3-0

This Week: at Vero Beach (Tues.), at Fort Pierce Central (Thu.)

The Lady Warriors have gotten the 2024 season off to a flying start winning each of their first two matches, dropping only one set in the process. The Lady Warriors reached the Class 7A Semifinals in 2023 where their season came to an end in the hands of Winter Park.

The Lady Warriors have been led so far this season by 6’1 senior outside hitter Ava Webster who leads the team with 41 kills.

#10 Chiles (Tallahassee) (3-0)

Last Week: Defeated Maclay 3-0, Defeated Ocala Forest 3-0, Defeated St. John Lutheran 3-0

This Week: at Gulf Breeze (Tues.), vs Lee County (GA) (Thu.)

The Timberwolves have won each of their first three matches in straight sets to begin the 2024 season. They’ve had key contributions from junior outside hitter Lindsay Smith and senior outside hitter Kate Stewart.
