The No. 9 ranked player in the state of Florida for the 2025 class is drawing closer to a commitment.
Matthew Able, A 6-5 shooting guard out of Sagemont Preparatory School in the greater Miami area will make his college decision on Friday, August 30, he told 247Sports’ Travis Branham on Thursday.
Last month, Able reduced his schools list to eight schools: Baylor, Boston College, Miami, Michigan, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Xavier.
Able is a three-level scorer where he was most efficient when it came to shooting from behind the 3-point arc where he was shooting at a 54-percent clip while playing for Austin Rivers Southeast Elite during the Grassroots season. The lefty doesn’t shy away when it comes to playing in full-attack mode either where he can finish at the front of the rim as well as having a smooth mid-range game.
He took an official visit to Miami last weekend where he told 247Sports “It was a really good visit, was nice how I started off seeing the coaches and staff.” It was just a really good experience and opportunity that I’m really blessed to have” he added.
Before the visit with Miami, Able also took official visits to Wake Forest and Northwestern.
247Sports’ Scouting Report on Able: Able is capable of making threes in bunches, yet has somewhat unorthodox mechanics with just a slight hop into a pronounced twisting motion. The ball still comes out with a fluid release and soft natural touch though.
