Matthew Able, A 4-star shooting guard out of Sagemont Prep in the greater Miami area has announced his collegiate decision.
Able, the No. 11 ranked player in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports announced on Friday he is taking his next level talents down to Coral Gables and the University of Miami.
Able chose the Hurricanes over Baylor, Boston College, Michigan, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Xavier.
The four-star guard took official visits to Northwestern and Wake Forest but has reportedly canceled his upcoming visits with Baylor, Boston College, and Xavier.
“I chose Miami because of the coaching staff and their belief in me was great” Able, told On3Sports’ recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw. “They were down to earth and have a real-family type with their players.” Able added.
Able is a well-built wing with broad shoulders who can play the guard position as well at a high level. He is also a confident scorer who can connect on all three levels and has no fear of putting up shots in clutch time. On the defensive end, Able is very active on the glass and can dictate any pace or play under any system.
During the Adidas 3SSB Summer Championships playing with Austin Rivers Elite, Able averaged 22 points per game and shot 54 percent from behind the arc.
With Able’s commitment to the University of Miami, he becomes the first member of the upcoming senior class for Jim Larranaga.
