Nate Oats and Alabama have landed their first commit of the 2025 recruiting cycle.
Four-star small forward Amari Allen announced on his social media accounts he has committed to the University of Alabama on Tuesday afternoon.
Allen chose the Crimson Tide over Minnesota, Mississippi State, Nevada, Wisconsin and UCF. Allen took an official visit to Tuscaloosa back on August 31 and was very comfortable with what Coach (Oats) and his staff had to offer.
“There’s not much more to say about that, as it’s one of the bigger programs in a great conference” Allen told 247Sports. “They’ve had NBA guys come out of there over the last few years so I found that real intriguing” Allen added.
According to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings, Allen is the 21st ranked small forward in the nation and the No. 2 ranked prospect in the state of Wisconsin.
Allen is now at Ashwaubenon High School in Green Bay after spending the previous two seasons at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Allen has likely intrigued some more of the nation’s top recruits to join him during this upcoming recruiting cycle with five-star point guard Mikel Brown Jr. and four-star power forward London Jemison still undecided about their collegiate future.
During the 2024 Adidas Grassroots Circuit, Allen averaged 16.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.9 steals and shot 45 percent from the field, including 41 percent from beyond the arc.
Here’s 247Sports’ Recruiting Analyst Adam Finkelstein’s take on Allen: Allen is a big wing with a good skill-set and well-rounded floor game. At 6-foot-6, he can dribble, pass, and shoot. He’s a solid athlete with some toughness to him, and also has a high IQ and good feel for the game.
He’s a consistent shooting threat with soft touch when he’s in rhythm from behind the three-point line (41% in 3SSB play). He’s also a very functional ball-handler within the flow of the offense. He’s not necessarily going to blow by his man, but he’s good with the ball, and may even be able to be a team’s secondary ball-handler when he isn’t facing too much ball pressure. Allen is also a heady passer and capable of reading the floor well.
