According to On3Sports Recruiting Analyst Hayes Fawcett, one of the top wide receivers in the nation has re-classed from 2026 to 2025.
Four-star wide receiver Malachi Toney, out of American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida will be a part of this upcoming recruiting cycle. Toney has been committed to the University of Miami since August 2023.
The 5-11 182-pound wide receiver has been a huge part of the Patriots offense this season, leading the team with 25 catches for 391 yards and 7 touchdowns through the first four games. He took the opening kick back for a touchdown in the season opener against Milton (Ga.) where the game was broadcasted nationally by ESPN.
Toney does plan to enroll early at the University of Miami but has had multiple schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee extending offers throughout the course of his recruitment process.
With Toney now being a part of the 2025 recruiting cycle for the Hurricanes, he is the 22nd member and just the second wide receiver as he joins Central Phenix City (Ala.)’s Daylyn Upshaw.
Here is an updated scouting report, via Andrew Ivins (247Sports): Inside receiver with the skills to emerge as a high-volume target and a go-to playmaker in a spread attack. Elected to forgo his senior year of high school and reclassify after putting up big numbers as an underclassman for one of South Florida’s top talent-producing programs. Size has not been third-party verified, but is believed to be hovering right around 5-foot-10.5, 180 pounds.
