Florida High School Football Top 15 Rankings- Week 10


The Florida High School Football regular season was extended a week to make-up for the games that were wiped off, due to Hurricane Milton.

This past week had a lot of upsets and movement in our rankings, and this week is no different with more exciting games on tap.

Here’s a look at the Top 15 Football statewide rankings across all classifications heading into Week 10:

#1 IMG Academy (5-1)

Previous Rank: 5

Next Game: at East St. Louis (IL)- Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT

The IMG Academy Ascenders are back at the top of this week’s statewide football rankings. They haven’t played since their 21-16 defeat over Venice back on October 4.

#2 Lakeland (6-0)

Previous Rank: 2

Next Game: vs Specially Fit Academy- Monday at 7:00 p.m.

The Dreadnaughts were scheduled to play against Sebring back on October 18, but due to Hurricane Milton that game has been re-scheduled for November 6. The Dreadnaughts will host Specially Fit Academy in a Monday night affair.

#3 Chaminade-Madonna (7-2)

Previous Rank: 3

Last Game: Defeated Avant Grande Academy, 56-0

Next Game: vs Cardinal Gibbons- Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Lions have now won seven straight games since dropping their season-opener to St. John Bosco (CA) and will now host Cardinal Gibbons in their regular-season finale on October 25.

#4 Armwood (7-0)

Previous Rank: 4

Last Game: Defeated Steinbrenner, 62-3

Next Game: vs Wharton- Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Hawks are very dangerous as far as contenders in Class 6A, where they have a decent chance to win each of its remaining three games.

#5 St. Thomas Aquinas (7-2)

Previous Rank: 5

Last Game: Defeated Monarch, 44-6

Next Game: vs American Heritage Plantation- Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Raiders bounced back from a heart breaking loss to Chaminade-Madonna back on October 11, with a commanding 44-6 rout over Monarch.

#6 Miami Central (6-1)

Previous Rank: 6

Last Game: Defeated Miami Norland, 22-14

Next Game: vs Stranahan- Monday at 7:00 p.m.

The Rockets clinched the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) title with a 22-14 win over Miami Norland in their last game. The Rockets could be a dangerous threat in the Class 3A Playoffs where they are among the favorites with Miami Northwestern and Raines (Jacksonville).

#7 Venice (7-1)

Previous Rank: 8

Last Game: Defeated Clearwater Central Catholic, 27-20

Next Game: vs Sarasota- Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Venice Head Coach John Peacock and the Indians got a convincing 27-20 road win over previously unbeaten Clearwater Central Catholic in a matchup of two Top 10 teams across the state. The Indians will host Sarasota on Friday night at Powell-Davis Stadium where they could likely secure the Class 7A, District 8 title with a win.

#8 Orlando Jones (7-0)

Previous Rank: 11

Last Game: Defeated Lake Wales, 31-19

Next Game: at Lake Region- Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Fightin’ Tigers got a convincing 31-19 win over Lake Wales back on October 18 to remain undefeated. They will return to action this Friday night when they travel to Lake Region for the first of two straight road games.

#9 Nease (6-0)

Previous Rank: 9

Last Game: Defeated Atlantic Coast, 44-12

Next Game: at Tocoi Creek- Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Panthers rolled to a 44-12 win over Atlantic Coast back on October 18 to remain undefeated. Their marquee matchup against Bartram Trail has been re-scheduled for November 7 could play some big implications in Class 6A, District 3.

#10 Clearwater Central Catholic (6-1)

Previous Rank: 7

Last Game: Lost to Venice, 27-20

Next Game: vs St. Frances Academy (MD)- Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Marauders were battle-tested in their last game which resulted in a tough 27-20 loss to Venice. They will now face another national power as St. Frances Academy (MD) makes their way to Marauders Stadium.

#11 Miami Norland (6-2)

Previous Rank: 10

Last Game: Lost to Miami Central, 22-14

Next Game: vs Plantation- Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Vikings are coming off a tough 22-14 loss to Miami Central in the GMAC Championship Game, but only drop one spot in this week’s rankings. Expect the Vikings to bounce back this week as they’ll host Plantation as well as make a ton of noise in the Class 4A Playoffs.

#12 Cocoa (4-3)

Previous Rank: 12

Last Game: Defeated The Villages Charter, 54-0

Next Game: vs Astronaut- Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Despite having three losses this season (IMG Academy, Venice, Miami Norland) the Tigers look like the favorites to win the Class 2A title. The Tigers snapped their two-game losing streak in their last game with a 54-0 thumping win over The Villages Charter.

#13 Cardinal Mooney (7-0)

Previous Rank: 13

Last Game: Defeated Sarasota Riverview, 41-13

Next Game: vs Tarpon Springs- Friday at 7:00 p.m.

The Cougars remained undefeated as they thumped Sarasota Riverview, 41-13 in their last game back on October 18. They will look to put their unbeaten run on the line on Friday night when they host Tarpon Springs.

#14 The First Academy (Orlando) (7-1)

Previous Rank: 14

Last Game: Defeated Seminole (Sanford), 36-25

Next Game: at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy- October 28 at 6:00 p.m.

The Royals made a statement in the Central Florida Area, where they defeated Sanford Seminole 36-25 back on October 18. The Royals could be the second best team in the greater Orlando area behind Jones who stand as the lone unbeaten team in the 407.

#15 Lake Mary (6-2)

Last Game: Defeated Orlando Evans, 31-6

Next Game: vs Lake Brantley- Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Junior quarterback Noah Grubbs (Notre Dame commit) made a statement helping lead the Rams to two wins last week over Sanford Seminole and Evans. The Rams can lock up the Class 7A, District 3 title with a win in their next game which they’ll host Lake Brantley at Don T. Reynolds Stadium.
