On Wednesday night, Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, Fla.) four-star quarterback Carter Smith announced on his social media accounts he has de-committed from the University of Michigan.
Smith had been committed to the Wolverines since November 2023, back when he was a three-star signal caller at the time.
The Wolverines have been in pursuit of Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood who is currently an LSU commit.
Smith’s social media announcement: “I would like to start by thanking the coaching staff at Michigan for everything they have done for me. I would especially like to thank Coach Campbell for everything and for giving me such an incredible opportunity. With that being said, I would like to announce that I have de-committed from the University of Michigan.”
With Smith no longer committed to Michigan, the Wolverines currently do not have a quarterback commit in the upcoming recruiting cycle.
Clemson, Penn State, and Wisconsin appear to be in pursuit of Smith, according to his father Dan.
“I’m not going anywhere. There is not a better place on the planet. There isn’t much going on in my life for anyone wondering.”I’m solid because of the quality of people there, it just feels right.” Smith added.
So far this season, Smith has thrown for 1,091 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and just 1 interception in seven games for the Vikings who currently have a 5-3 record.
