2025 4-star ATH Preston Douglas Flips Commitment to NC State

Four-star tight end Preston Douglas, out of Benjamin School in Palm Beach Gardens flipped his commitment to an ACC school on Thursday:

Senior Preston Douglas committed to the University of South Carolina back in June, but kept the Wolfpack in the running.

Douglas became the 19th NC State commit and second tight end for the upcoming recruiting cycle as he joins Cary (N.C.) three-star Gus Richey, who committed to the Wolfpack back in August 2023.

NC State offered the 6-3 225-pound tight end back in January, and was scheduled to take an official visit to Raleigh back in June but his prior commitment to South Carolina cancelled that for the time being.

Douglas has shined as a two-way player where he can play either tight end or outside linebacker, but the Wolfpack wanted him for his defensive skills. Douglas has family ties to Head Coach Dave Doeren as his father (Jonathan) and Doeren were collegiate teammates in the Kansas City area.

Douglas held a total of 14 offers during his recruitment process, including power-four offers from NC State, South Carolina, and Syracuse. He also held offers from Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Delaware, East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Liberty, Old Dominion, and South Florida.

Douglas transferred to Benjamin before the start of his senior season, coming from Jupiter High School, where he was limited to just six games before a broken collarbone ended his season. He had 23 catches for 405 yards and eight touchdowns for the Warriors on the offensive end last season. He also added 9 tackles, one sack, and one interception on the defensive end his junior season.

So far this season, Douglas has recorded 16 receptions for 255 yards and three touchdowns on offense this season. He also has 11 total tackles and 3.0 sacks on the defensive end.
