More info on Iowa’s newest 2025 commit
On Saturday evening, Wiregrass Ranch (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) three-star running back Nathan McNeil announced on his social media platforms that he has committed to the University of Iowa.
The 5-11 195-pound running back McNeil chose the Hawkeyes over Arkansas State, Rhode Island, and several others who were showing heavy interest in him.
McNeil has been a versatile weapon on the offensive side of the ball for the Bulls this season. He has had 70 carries for 509 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground and 15 catches for 371 yards and four touchdowns through the air.
The Hawkeyes have been in heavy pursuit of McNeil, who took an official visit to Iowa City for their game this week against Northwestern.
McNeil is the first running back commit for the Hawkeyes in the 2025 recruiting cycle and the 15th overall commit. He joins Edwardsville (Ill.) defensive end Iose Epenesa, Clear Lake (Ia.) tight end Thomas Mayer, Sycamore (Ill.) linebacker Burke Gautcher, West Senior (Ia.) tight end Mason Woods, West Aurora (Ill.) wide receiver Terrence Smith, Marist (Ill.) defensive lineman Brad Fitzgibbon, Oswego (Ill.) linebacker Carson Cooney, Pleasant Valley (Ia.) defensive lineman Joey VanWetzinga, River Falls (Wis.) tight end Eli Johnson, St. Louis Country Day (Mo.) offensive lineman Lucas Allgeyer, Carroll (Ind.) quarterback Jimmy Sullivan, St. Thomas More (Conn.) defensive back Charles Bell, Loyola Academy (Ill.) safety Drew McPherson, and The Woodlands (Tx.) punter Scott Starzyk.
I think I’ve been playing well this season,” McNeil told Rivals.com, “I’ve felt like all the good things like offers were bound to happen. It was just a matter of time.” He added.
