ORLANDO, Fla.- The Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA) tipped off the regular season on Tuesday night. HSSportsFlorida took a trip over to Central Florida for Specially Fit Academy (SFA) playing against Southern Coast Academy. Here are five standouts from the game: Southern Coast Academy took home the 77-58 win.
Landyn Colyer (SFA Academy)– The 6-5 junior forward brought a versatile game on both ends of the floor despite struggling with his shooting touch from the field in the first half. Colyer finished with a team-high 20 points, with 15 in the second half. He showed his defensive versatility in the second half with his ability to guard multiple positions. He found open teammates in stride with his crisp passing ability.
Huntley Nicholson (SFA Academy)- The 6-6 junior forward showed a smooth inside-out game where he can finish off the catch and bounce. Nicholson was the second member of the Rams to finish in double figures scoring just 10 points in the loss.
Antonio Baymon (Southern Coast Academy)- The 6-0 sophomore guard comes into play with a ton of upside. He scored on all three levels tonight finishing with a game-high 23 points on five made 3-pointers. Baymon also showcased his ability to attack the basket where he showcased his athleticism and unafraid to draw contact. Look for him to turn a lot of attention this season where he has raw potential to gain college interest by the time AAU season rolls around.
Alexandre Charlotin (Southern Coast Academy)– The 6-3 senior combo guard provided an offensive spark where he can be effective whether it’s in the paint as well as in the mid-range. He finished the game with 13 points but knocked down some clutch shots down the stretch in the win. His upside will continue to grow as he showcased a ton of length on the defensive end as well.
Daniel Akoue (Southern Coast Academy)– The 6-9 senior power forward can stretch the floor with his perimeter shooting while still providing defensive versatility and secondary rebounding. The jump shot is falling more consistently as well as his mid-range game. His length on the offensive end was a huge spark for his teammates tonight despite finishing with just eight points. Akoue made plays happen on the glass on both ends of the floor where he was either challenging tough shots on the defensive end or finishing in full-attack mode on the offensive end.
