The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have lost both running back commits for the upcoming recruiting cycle. Bryant (Ark.) three-star running back Daniel Anderson on October 3, and Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) three-star running back Justin Thurman on Monday.
Thurman had been committed to Notre Dame since August 1 and flipped to the University of Kansas today as the early signing period is just under a month away.
Thurman is the second running back commit for the Jayhawks in this year’s recruitment class as he joins Cypress Christian (Tx.) three-star John Kelly who committed to Kansas back in April.
The 5-10 185-pound senior running back is rated as a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports and is ranked the No. 83 running back in the nation and the No. 147 overall player in the state of Florida.
Kansas football has been on a roll over the last couple of weeks where they’ve picked up Maize (Kan.) three-star wide receiver Bryson Hayes and Sierra Canyon (Ca.) four-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens.
Thurman took visits to Lawrence back in 2022 and for their spring game in 2023.
He is a native of St. Louis, Missouri before making the move to the Sunshine State before his sophomore year of high school.
According to MaxPreps, Thurman rushed for 529 yards on 102 carries with 11 touchdowns. He also caught 10 passes for 77 yards and had a receiving touchdown out of the backfield this season for the Tigers.
Kansas is now up to 16 high school recruits for the upcoming recruiting cycle and are inside the Top 60, ranked No. 57 in the recruiting rankings for the Class of 2025.
