The 2nd Annual Hoop Feast hosted by IssaBucket Productions took place last weekend at the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus in Wesley Chapel. Over 150 teams from across the country took part in the two-day event.
HSSportsFlorida founder Ross Van De Griek was in attendance and here is a list of five performers that we had our eyes last weekend:
Nijaun Harris– St. Petersburg
The 6-3 freshman guard was the true definition of a walking bucket on Saturday afternoon against Gulliver Prep. He finished with a game-high 46 points despite the overtime loss to Gulliver Prep was connecting on all three levels.
Evan Roberts– Palmetto
The 6-1 junior point guard has been off to a tear so far to begin the season and this weekend’s performance at The Hoop Feast was no different. On Friday afternoon against Mater Lakes Academy, Roberts exploded onto the scene finishing with 29 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in a 72-67 win.
Tate Darner– Santa Fe Catholic
The 6-3 senior shooting guard and Chattanooga commit continues to be one of the sharpest perimeter shooters in the state for his class. He finished with 23 points and knocked down four 3-pointers in a win over Mater Lakes Academy on Saturday afternoon. He was also very active on the defensive end where he added seven rebounds, two steals, and recorded a blocked shot.
Quinton Wilson– Victory Christian Academy
The 6-4 freshman combo guard was on a scoring tear on Saturday against St. John’s Country Day, where he finished with 27 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. He continues to be one of the top two-way prospects in the state for this year’s freshman class, where he already holds an offer from Michigan.
Dontrell Jackson– Westside (GA)
The 6-1 junior guard played both sides of the floor exceptionally hard, where he plays with a high motor as well as a ton of versatility. Offensively, he led all scorers, finishing with 36 points in a double-overtime loss to Tampa Catholic on Saturday night. Defensively, he didn’t take any plays off where he made a huge presence in the passing lanes as well as protecting the rim with his length and athleticism. College coaches should be on his radar by the time the season comes to an end.
