Just three weeks ago, Lake Brantley parted ways with Skip Clayton after three seasons where he led the Patriots to a 9-22 record and making just one playoff appearance (2022).
On Monday morning, Athletic Director Eric Entrekin said in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, “I want to bring the excitement back to Lake Brantley.” That said, Entrekin hired Garrett Kruczek who previously spent two seasons as the head coach at The Master’s Academy in Oviedo.
Kruczek led the Eagles to back-to-back Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA) state titles in 2023 and 2024. The Eagles finished 11-1 this season and defeated University School, 49-42 to capture the SIAA title.
Kruczek, 29 is the youngest head coach in the Central Florida area where he will bring a pass-heavy offense where he had freshman quarterback Jackson Stecher who threw for 2,666 yards, 38 touchdowns, and threw just two interceptions in 11 games played this season.
Kruczek is the son of Mike Kruczek, the offensive coordinator at UCF from 1998 to 2003. His last coaching stop was at Trinity Prep where he coached the Saints from 2013 to 2022. Mike will remain with his son as the offensive coordinator for the Patriots.
“I’m very confident that I can turn this program around and what we do offensively,” Kruczek said to the Orlando Sentinel. “We like to score a lot of points and play an up-tempo offense,” Kruczek added.
Kruczek has also had previous collegiate stops at UCF and Eastern Kentucky. He also coached at Brevard College for five seasons before moving back to the Sunshine State.
