As we enter the second half of the High School Girls Basketball season across the Sunshine State. HSSportsFlorida staff writer Ross Van De Griek will be evaluating five prospects in this year’s sophomore class.
Taylor Davidson– Sarasota Riverview
The 5-8 sophomore combo guard has one of the most consistent shooting strokes in the state from behind the arc. Davidson is averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season for the Lady Rams. Her best game so far this season came on December 28 where she knocked down five 3-pointers in a 53-46 win over Parkview (Georgia).
Elle Deegan– Bishop Kenny
Deegan can also score at a very high percentage when plays are run through her as the primary catch-and-shoot option. Deegan is averaging just 6.3 points per game this season while shooting 43 percent from the field and 38 percent from the 3-point range for the Crusaders.
Madeline Mignery– Cardinal Mooney
In 12 games this season for the Lady Cougars, Mignery is averaging 16.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range. Mignery has received offers from Clemson, Ohio State, Stanford, and TCU as the recruitment process is just getting started for the 6-1 small forward.
Presley Norman– Bolles (Jacksonville)
The 5-10 sophomore shooting guard is averaging 12.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game this season for the Lady Bulldogs. Norman does a great job when it comes to shooting from behind the arc at a high clip whether it’s off the bounce or the catch. On the defensive end, she has a strong knack for jumping the passing lanes where she can turn her defense into offense in a hurry. Expect Norman to have a huge recruitment as she has already drawn offers from North Florida and South Alabama.
Audrey Rollins– Nease
Rollins can run the point guard position and did a lot of damage with her three-point shooting. Rollins is impressive, especially during the high school season where she is the primary point guard for her team. Rollins can score on all three levels and has proven she is one of the top shooting point guards in Northeast Florida.
