As we get set for another high school football season, we will be revealing our Top 100 players to watch for in their respective classes. We will start with the senior class, followed by juniors, and then sophomores. The following players are ranked by their collegiate potential and impact they made during the 2023 season.
#100 Bjorn Jurgensen– Bishop Moore
Position: Quarterback
Commitment: Virginia
Jurgensen is coming off a solid season at Bishop Moore where he led the Hornets to a 9-4 record in 2023, completing 67% of his passes, threw for 2466 yards, and had 29 touchdown passes. Jurgensen can also make havoc with his legs as well as he rushed for 632 yards and had 12 rushing touchdowns as well. The 6-2 quarterback is poised to have another huge season in his second year as the full-time starter as he gets his primary weapon back in junior wide receiver Kenyon Alston back where he was second on the team last year in receiving yards.
#99 Sean Cuono– Clearwater Central Catholic
Position: Running Back
Commitment: Indiana
Cuono comes to Clearwater Central Catholic from Calvary Christian during the off-season where he is dangerous in the backfield as his can catch passes as well as having elite speed. Last season as a junior, Cuono ran for 1024 yards and had eight rushing touchdowns for the Warriors. Cuono also had 128 receiving yards and a touchdown helping lead the Warriors to a 10-3 record and reaching the 2M Regional Final.
#98 Tavius Horne– St. Thomas Aquinas
Position: Defensive Back
Commitment: East Carolina
In his second year playing for St. Thomas Aquinas, Horne is a gifted athlete with a burst of speed where he can cover anywhere in the open field. His junior season was cut short playing in just five games where he recorded 12 total tackles for the Raiders. Horne also has an elite track background where ran the 200-meter in 21.51 seconds as well as the 100-meter in just 10.8 seconds.
#97 Ja’Kyrian Turner– South Sumter
Position: Linebacker/Wide Receiver
Commitment: Pittsburgh
Turner plays just about everywhere on the field whether it’s on offense, defense, or even special teams.
Last season, Turner had 50 carries for 533 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns for the Raiders. He also caught 15 passes for 203 receiving yards and three touchdowns. On the defensive end, Turner had 37 total tackles and three interceptions which he helped the Raiders finish with an 11-2 record and getting to the 2S Regional Final.
#96 Xavier Thompson– Pine Forest
Position: Defensive Back
Commitment: Memphis
The 6-1 170-pound defensive back is also a notorious two-sport athlete as he ran track running the 100-meter dash in 11.09 seconds
Last season as a junior, Thompson recorded 17 total tackles and recorded an interception in nine games in his first season with Pine Forest after spending his previous two seasons at Pensacola Catholic.
#95 Eddie Love Jr.– Fort Walton Beach
Position: Running Back
Commitment: East Carolina
The 5-8 175-pound running back is coming off an explosive junior season where he led the team in carries (152), rushing yards (1352) and touchdowns (14). As a receiver, Love also had 18 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown. He also makes a huge impact on kickoff returns where he averaged 23.8 yards per kickoff return, including having a kickoff return for a touchdown.
#94 Major Preston– IMG Academy
Position: Defensive Back
Commitment: Ole Miss
Last season as a junior, Preston played both cornerback and safety for IMG Academy where he racked up 17 total tackles and had five interceptions. Before moving to IMG, Preston was also a dynamic player on the hardwood where he played at Hopewell High School in Virginia.
#93 Sam Hayward– Providence
Position: Defensive End
Commitment: Uncommitted
The two-way player can often at times line up as a strong-side tight-end where he has underrated speed where he recorded 102 receiving yards last season. Defensively, Hayward recorded 45 total tackles and picked up eight sacks. Hayward and the Stallions are coming off a 7-4 record in 2023 where they reached the Class 1M Regional Semifinal. Hayward has offers from Georgia Tech, Iowa State, UMass, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan.
#92 Isaiah Mizell– Boone (Orlando)
Position: Wide Receiver
Commitment: Arizona
If this name sounds familiar to you, he is the younger brother of Florida Gators wide receiver Aidan Mizell. The 6-0 160-pound receiver is a difficult man to keep up with when given space, as he exploded for 48 receptions, 1061 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. Mizell isn’t just your perennial No. 1 receiver as he can also make an impact on the track where he ran the 100-meter dash in 10.49 seconds as well as the 200-meter dash in 21.51 seconds at the Metro East Championships back in April.
#91 Jonathan Carter– Flanagan
Position: Safety
Commitment: Florida Atlantic
The 6-1 190-pound senior has elite size and speed for his position where he can become a matchup nightmare. Carter can lineup at either cornerback or safety.
As a junior, Carter recorded 26 total tackles (2.9 tackles per game) in nine games for the Falcons.
